My first night in London I found a great-looking little food street, with a gelato shop selling some of the best I’ve ever had — it even puts the Bi-Rite Creamery salted caramel to shame!
La Gelatiera‘s salty caramel has a strong salt flavor I find missing from the blander, sweeter option at Bi-Rite (in San Francisco). The other flavors look lovely and creative (basil and chili, anyone?).
While standing outside the teeny shop enjoying my gelato, I noticed several other food-related shops on the street… JPC (the Jamaica Patty Company, which I’ve read about as quite good), New Row Coffee, Drury Tea & Coffee Company, Sweet Couture cake boutique, and more.
There’s even a “nostalgia” candy shop, Hardy’s Original Sweet Shop, with candies we’ve forgotten about or never knew in the US (like Pear Drops, with a rather saucy package).
New Row is near Covent Garden and Leicester Square.
